Royal Museums Greenwich is a collection of five wonderful museums. Our venues, Cutty Sark, the National Maritime Museum, Queen’s House, the Royal Observatory and the Peter Harrison Planetarium each offer unique spaces available for hire. We provide standout settings for events of all kinds. We are a historic collection of museum showcasing pioneering architecture, British art and history, and scientific discovery and exploration.
On one side guests can enjoy the greenery of Royal Greenwich Park, host to the famous Prime Meridian and on the other, the London city skyline spanning over the river Thames, it doesn’t get more iconic than this!
The National Maritime Museum is certainly our flagship site and is the largest maritime museum in the world! It has just reopened after a year-long refurbishment project that has seen a new glass roof built along with some other exciting design features, so it feels like a good time to shine a spotlight on this one-of-a-kind venue and submit this incredibly legendary museum up for this prestigious award.
From Christmas parties to gala dinners, award celebrations, weddings, private parties & filming, The National Maritime Museum offers the perfect backdrop to a diverse array of events for up to 550 seated or 1000 standing.

In the last few years alone, we have hosted celebrities such as Jeff Goldblum and Cynthia Erivo, royals including the Prince and Princess of Wales, sports personalities such as the New York Mets and immersive experiential events for brands such as Mutti, Pragnell and Pokémon.
Guests enter the museum on street level, on Oceans Court! A large square situated at the heart of the museum, Oceans Court marries eighteenth-century classical-style architecture with a newly refurbished modern glass ceiling, flooding the space with soft natural light.
With a myriad of maritime artefacts in situ, this space offers a rich and unique backdrop for standing drinks receptions for up to 1,000 guests along with offering your attendees the opportunity to explore the various galleries on this floor such as the ‘Astronomy Photographer of the Year’ gallery spotlighting the shots from the prestigious photography competition while offering an out of this world area for a VIP cocktail bar experience for up to 100 guests.
Heading up to the 1st floor, on the mezzanine level, Oceans Map sits in the centre of Oceans Court. It’s a versatile modern open space boasting a wonderful world map art production on its flooring which can sit up to 550 guests for dinner, with space remaining for a dance floor. The space lends itself perfectly to commanding dinner receptions.
The museum is surrounded by our Grounds, 6 lawns offering the perfect setting for large scale summer parties and brand activations.

We are a small team of 7 running all things events and commercial hire for the whole collection. We share a genuine passion for the events industry, breathe creativity and strive for client satisfaction.
