In April, Homage restaurant partnered with one of South Africa’s most famous dining experiences, The Pot Luck Club. Each day we transform Homage into a space perfect for an intimate, cozy evening dining experience.

The launch of this exciting collaboration has enhanced Homage’s ability to host a wide range of events and services perfectly, while maintaining the hotel’s core values and hospitality standards.

Hosting three very different services in Homage daily has equipped our staff with the ability to effectively adapt to planning, organising and delivering a variety of different events and parties.

As briefly mentioned, the Homage restaurant is grand and captivating, with elegant gold detailing and large pillars stretching right up to the high ceilings, it’s certainly an impressive venue. At Christmas, Homage is subtly decorated to capture the essence of an elegant Christmas. We ensure that the sparkle of Christmas is communicated through every detail, such as napkins folded as Christmas trees and festive table pieces. Our classic illuminous trees dotted around the restaurant become extra special for the season, decorated with delicate ornaments.

The restaurant lighting plays a key role in shaping the atmosphere and ambiance. For our more intimate or evening Christmas parties, our mini lamps placed on each table are popular and create a warm, subtle glow. They harmonise perfectly with the cream tones and historic feel of the restaurant, ensuring that the atmosphere directly reflects the vibe of the Christmas party, we focus on sensory layering.

The Waldorf Hilton is passionate about minimizing food waste so on top of training our staff to recycle and dispose of waste responsibly, we aim to reuse ingredients which didn’t get used during other services. For example, we use pineapple that was leftover during the breakfast service for a cocktail recipe for our bars.

Also, particularly for large events such as a Christmas party, we aim to have as many dishes as possible made with the same ingredients. This is another method we implement to reduce food waste from large events.

The Waldorf also works for an amazing charity called WorkFit, a charity that helps people with Down Syndrome find employment and progress in their careers. Two members of our restaurant staff were employed through WorkFit and are both a credit to the Waldorf team.

Additionally, to maximise sustainability and environmental responsibility, we source our ingredients locally, which also supports the local community.

Finally when planning an event, our team offers the event organisers the opportunity to reduce their carbon emissions. If they wish to proceed with this option, we reach out to the organisation we work with to reduce the carbon footprint of the party. This option is an effective way to bring the importance of environmental sustainability to light and work together to try and all make better choices.

The partnership with The Pot Luck Club introduced an exciting new dining concept in the heart of London. Designed by Luke Dale-Roberts, a bold and creative menu featuring global dishes is served. Guests receive a menu and pencil to fill out what they wish to order, making it a more immersive experience. The food is served as small plates, which gives guests the chance to explore a range interesting flavours and combinations. The Pot Luck Club Pop-Up is a popular choice for many Christmas Parties, who are looking to try something new and step away from more traditional options.

We also offer clients the opportunity to collaborate with the bar team to create their very own cocktails for their Christmas party. They can design the drink to fit the theme of their party with specialist help from our team to bring their ideas to life.

From the very first Christmas party enquiry, one of our Event specialists is dedicated to ensuring the vision of the party is brought to life. The initial site visits are an opportunity to show Homage in its natural form and discuss ideas and possibilities for the event. We then progress to pre-event meetings with the clients, Food and Beverage team and Chefs to thoroughly detail the event to make sure we are fully equipped to deliver an unforgettable experience.

From the initial event planning to the delivery of the party, all staff maintain The Waldorf’s high standard and embrace their passion for hospitality to create a memorable Christmas party. Being in the heart of London, a Christmas party in Homage is that extra bit special.

Collaboration with The Pot Luck Club has also allowed opportunity for our team to learn about South African cuisine and flavour profiles. Being able to knowledgeably interact with the guests about the food adds another layer of fantastic service to the experience.

In general, as a hotel, we always make sure to always have exceptional attention to detail and have found that guests appreciate even the smallest details or little surprises to elevate their experience. Our top priority is to always go above and beyond for each guest and to surpass their expectations to create a truly memorable experience. We ensure to carry these efforts through when planning and delivering each Christmas party. This could be as simple as a surprise welcome cocktail or canapé.

This year we have helped organise many different entertainment factors to our Christmas parties, for example, raffle tickets, photo booths, live music etc. Each party is thoughtfully planned to be individual to the event and bring their vision to life.
