Opening in 1908, The Waldorf Hilton is a key part of London’s history. We aim for the guests of a Christmas party at The Waldorf to feel a part of the ongoing Waldorf story. This could be through dancing on the very same marble floor as guests at the first Tango Teas in the 1900’s – the original faint scuff marks from the dancer’s shoes are still visible and the floor is Grade II listed.
In our iconic Palm Court, there is a grand clock that is positioned at the top of the staircase, this is said to have inspired a classic scene from the original Titanic film, ‘A Night to Remember.’ Hosting a Christmas party between the walls of such a renowned historic hotel transforms a regular Christmas party into an unforgettable celebration.
The 2019 ‘Rocketman’ starring Taron Egerton was filmed in The Palm Court and Adelphi, both of which are featured in the famous dining scene. This is a fun-fact for anyone looking to host an event in these rooms as there have been many celebrities that have walked those floors.
As the history of the hotel is such a significant part of The Waldorf’s identity, our aim is to uplift the hotel with a Christmas sparkle. Covering every inch of the hotel with decorations would disguise the beauty of the elegant Edwardian architecture. With this in mind, we’ve kept the natural magnificence of the hotel as the main focus but used sensory layering to create an added festive atmosphere and feel around the hotel.
Upon arrival guests are welcomed into the lobby – a perfect combination of modern luxury with the hotel’s history shining though. The lobby is decorated with deep, rich reds and golds - fitting perfectly into the elegant feel of the hotel. The grand Christmas trees are traditional and nostalgic, perfectly decorated in all key spaces of the hotel. Bright red bows and bauble garlands hang proudly, framing the lobby and our largest event room, the Palm Court. The hotel is infused with a subtle but fresh, festive fragrance, creating a warm and
welcoming atmosphere throughout the hotel. It truly feels like the perfect seasonal haven after stepping in from the busy streets of central London.
The Waldorf Hilton is passionate about minimising food waste so on top of training our staff to recycle and dispose of waste responsibly, we aim to reuse ingredients which didn’t get used during other services. For example, we use pineapple that was leftover during the breakfast service for a cocktail recipe for our bars. Also, for large events such as a Christmas party, we aim to have as many dishes as possible made with the same ingredients.
The Waldorf also works with a charity called WorkFit, a charity that helps people with Down Syndrome find employment and progress in their careers. Two members of our restaurant staff were employed through WorkFit and are both a credit to the Waldorf team.
The hotel also works ‘Suited and Booted’, a charity which focuses on equipping vulnerable men to get back into employment. The charity provides them with a professional outfit to give them the motivation and confidence for a job interview.
Another impactful charity The Waldorf supports is ‘Fair Shot’, a charity which helps people with learning difficulties and autism find employment in hospitality. They arrange and provide work experience and training and aims to help them achieve long-term employment.
We also aim to be socially and environmentally responsible within hotel departments. For example, during the Christmas period, the commercial office collected Christmas presents to donate to a charity who will gift them to children who may not receive any.
Finally, when planning an event, our team offers the event organisers the opportunity to reduce their carbon emissions. If they wish to proceed with this option, we reach out to the organisation we work with to reduce the carbon footprint of the party.
The Christmas cocktail menu from one of the bars here at The Waldorf has been crafted to capture the essence of Christmas in London and align with the festivities of the hotel.
They have been specially crafted by our Bar team to taste nostalgic, comforting and warming - perfect for Christmas!
The taste of the cocktails harmonise with the warm and peaceful feeling of The Edwardian style bar. Grand and articulate with gentle jazz playing in the background, guests can't help but feel cozy and relaxed. Good Godfrey’s is a popular option to enjoy post - Christmas party cocktails and unwind from a busy night of partying.
A popular package for Christmas parties is a DJ, canapés and drinks reception. Canapés served are often inspired by The Pot Luck Club Pop-Up because since April 2025, The Waldorf partnered with The Pot Luck Club, a famous South African dining experience. This bold and unique menu is the perfect way to inject flavour into any Christmas party!
We also offer clients the opportunity to collaborate with the bar team to create their very own cocktails for the Christmas party. They can design the drink to fit the theme of their party with specialist help from our bar team to bring their ideas to life.
From the very first Christmas party enquiry, a member of our commercial team is dedicated to ensuring the vision of the party is brought to life. The initial site visits are an opportunity to show the hotel in its natural form and discuss ideas and possibilities for the event. We then progress to pre-event meetings with the clients, Food and Beverage team and chefs to thoroughly detail the event to make sure we are fully equipped to deliver an unforgettable experience.
From the initial event planning to the delivery of the party, all staff maintain The Waldorf’s high standard and embrace their passion for hospitality to create a memorable Christmas party. Being in the heart of London, a Christmas party at the Waldorf is that extra bit special.
Our team at The Waldorf are very passionate about keeping the history of the hotel alive, so will use every opportunity to interact with the guests about the heritage of the building and how that can shine through a Christmas party.
The Wild Monkey and Good Godfrey’s bar, are a great add-on to any Christmas party. A popular arrangement for events is a private pre- drinks reception at The Wild Monkey before setting off into our iconic Palm Court or Homage restaurant for the main Christmas event. Additionally, at the The Wild Monkey, we have our very own live music from singer and guitarist, James, who has proved to be a very popular. We encourage add-ons such as a drinks reception in the bar or rooms to stay the night so that guests, even if they are just here for a Christmas party, can maximise their Waldorf experience.
When guests have a sequence of events as part of the Christmas party, it enhances the experience and helps it feel like a true Waldorf journey.
The Waldorf Hilton is a perfect venue to host a grand Christmas party as we successfully combine consistently exceptional service with our incredible venues with deep rooted history – the perfect recipe for an unforgettable Christmas party.
